International Center for Quantum Materials, Peking University (ICQM)
The 6th Joint ICQs annual Workshop on Novel Quantum Physics at Interfaces and 2D Materials, will be held on June 12-14, 2016 in Beijing, China. It is hosted by the International Center for Quantum Structures (ICQS) at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
ICQS was founded on Oct. 26, 2000. The purpose to found the center was to bring young scientists, her members, together to carry out interdisciplinary researches in a more effective way on low-dimensional physics, nano-science and other closely related fields, by taking advantage of the members’ experimental or theoretical expertise. During the past years, serials of significant scientific discoveries have been made and numerous world-leading young scientists in the fields have been fostered with the center. Her sister centers, the International Center for Quantum Design of Functional Materials (ICQD) in the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, and the International Center for Quantum Materials (ICQM) in Peking University, were founded in 2008 and 2010, respectively. The ICQs members include well-established young scientists both domestic and overseas. Six of them have been elected to Chinese Academy of Sciences and most of them are recipients of “One-Hundred-Talent Project”, “Chang Jiang Scholar”, “Hong Kong ‘Qiu Shi’ Fund” and “Fund for National Outstanding Youth”. Currently the ICQs are among the best recognized research centers in the related fields in the world.
Initiated in 2011, the Joint ICQs Annual Workshops were designed to bring together the members and special invitees, serving as an important platform for exchanges of ideas and in-depth discussions on a broad spectrum of topics related to quantum phenomena, with the primary objective of promoting collaborations amongst the workshop participants. In 2016, the 6th joint annual workshop will be focusing on, but not limited to, novel quantum physics at interfaces and 2D materials. Prof. Hongjun Gao is serving as the chair of the workshop. During the three days, exciting scientific talks as well as a lab tour in the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences will be arranged.
